Holding a Feast unto Jehovah
A Christian life is really a feasting life, and the apostle Paul charged the believers
to keep the feast (1 Corinthians 5:8). After twenty some years of being a Christian,
I feel blessed to maintain this feast. Because the Lord is so dear and precious in
my Christian life, I dont hesitate to testify of the joy and contentment of feasting
on Him. This was what He desired His people to do when He delivered the children of
Israel out of Egypt, for He said, Let my people go that they may hold a feast unto
Me (Exodus 5:1; 10:9).
Born and raised in a Buddhist home in a small country, South Vietnam, I was never
taught who the Lord Jesus was and what Christian salvation was about. In 1975, the
Vietnam War caused many of us to flee from our own country to wherever we could find
a safe shelter. In my case, the U.S. Marines rescued me with other Vietnamese and
brought us to America, a foreign country, whose culture and language were totally
new to us. Because of being by myself, without family or relatives, and suffering
from culture shock, I turned to God for help. At the end of 1976, I began to attend
some church assemblies in Southern California, despite the fact that I had no basic
knowledge of the Christian faith. It was around that year that I met some college
friends who were Christians meeting with the local church. In early 1977, I moved
in with some of these Christian friends and they introduced to me the basic knowledge
of the Lord Jesus and Christian salvation. With their shepherding and care, I finally
received the Lord Jesus and was baptized in 1978, and was edified in a local church
in Southern California. After being saved, I was truly brought to a feast with my
Lord and His people. I had been starved spiritually all my life until I began meeting
with the local church where I began to enjoy my Lord as the real feast. Famine was
over; a feast had begun. My life was changed. Every day I read the Bible with the
use of the ministry publications of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. Their ministry of
the Word truly opened the Bible to me, and brought light to my understanding of the
deep longing of our loving God. In these twenty some years, I have learned, and am
still learning, to enjoy the all-inclusiveness of my Lord as a feast to strengthen,
to supply and to sustain me for my Christian life. The goal of my life today is to
continue in this feast, and the destiny of my future is to participate, if the Lord
grants me mercy, in the marriage feast of the Lamb (Revelation 21:2; Matthew 24:10),
feasting with the Bridegroom and His corporate Bride in the coming millennium. What
a delightful and glorious salvation we have in Him! This kind of experience is truly
the reality and the fulfillment of what was on Gods heart when He delivered the children
of Israel out of Egypt to hold a feast unto Him.
I worship Him for loving us so much that He desired and planned in eternity past that
His people should feast on Him abundantly with all of His fullness. He is such a rich
provision (Romans 10:12) sufficient to nourish us throughout our Christian journey
until He comes. As I survey all the blessings I have received in my Christian experience,
I owe much to the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, and to the believers who
shepherded me into this wonderful feast. May the Lord bless also those who are hungry
and thirsty for Him so that they may also be satisfied in Him. Amen!
