The Enjoyment of Christ
I would like to share my testimony on how I came to experience the enjoyment of the
Lord Jesus. I was raised in a Christian home and attended a fundamental denominational
church. I was saved when I was five years old and remember even to this date (over
50 years later) receiving the Lord Jesus as my Savior and confessing my sins while
He graciously forgave me.
When I was ten years old I felt the Lord calling me to be a missionary. I struggled
with this but promised the Lord to follow Him and trusted that He would work it out.
I usually read my Bible and prayed each day; however, there was a longing in my being
to know the Lord in a deeper way, to enjoy Him.
I went to a Christian college and there I met the man that I felt the Lord wanted
me to marry. After we married my husband felt he had a calling to preach the gospel.
He also pastored two churches. During this time we were very much disillusioned with
the condition of the church organization and the lukewarmness of the believers. After
much prayer we felt to prepare ourselves for the mission field and did so; we went
to Indonesia with our four children in 1966.
After ministering there for a while some of the same situations came up again and
some new ones surfaced. We tried to fellowship with the believers and co-workers concerning
the things that did not match the Word of God. There did not seem to be a response.
About this time my brother-in-law sent us some books to read, the writings of Watchman
Nee and Witness Lee. My husband was really enlightened in the Word as he read and
after almost five years we returned to the United States to pursue what the Lord was
doing with a group of believers meeting as the local church in Los Angeles.
The first time I attended a meeting I was overwhelmed with the opening of the Word
of God. I was really starved spiritually. As the brother spoke out of the book of
John, I just became enlivened. The more I attended the meetings and got into the Bible,
the more I saw Gods plan for us as believers. Gods economy (Gods wealth distributed)
is Gods plan and arrangement to fulfill the desire of His heart. He wants to dispense
all that He is into us so we can enjoy Him as the Father, the Son, the Spirit, mercy,
compassion, love, kindness, grace, righteousness, faithfulness, peace, hope, joy,
endurance, encouragement, wisdom, knowledge, power, authority, life, glory, redemption,
salvation, justification, reconciliation, freedom, sanctification, transformation,
renewing, conformation, glorification, incarnation, crucifixion, resurrection and
ascension. As I was enlightened with these wonderful riches of Christ, I began to
realize that I could experience and enjoy Him in all these aspects. What enjoyment!
After 28 years of enjoying the ministry of these two brothers, Watchman Nee and Witness
Lee, I am daily enlightened in the Word and have praise and thanksgiving to the Lord
that I can now enjoy Him moment by moment in the Body of Christ.
